Rudolf Taleweaver is a great friend of Seabeard and is first seen after the tutorial. At the beginning of playing Seabeard, Rudolf Taleweaver is around to guide the player through learning the game.

Rudolf Taleweaver's boat is called the Oakwood Trawler, and he requests various quests to be completed and grants rewards upon goal completion. He wants the player to help him restore Accordia to its former glory.

Quests[]

The first quest he asks for is to find a Root Remover and bring it back to him.

The second quest he asks for is to destroy an ancient root.

Upon completion of the second quest, he asks the player to follow him past where the ancient root once blocked a path.

RudolfTaleweaverIcon "Follow me!"

When he stops in front of a building he waits for the player to approach him and says,

Speak to Mortimer Woodchuck[]

RudolfTaleweaverIcon
  • "You might not believe it, but this rubble marks the site of the great Seabeard's humble home."
  • "It's just one of the many great Accordian buildings that need restoring. We're definitely in need of some expert help."
  • "Luckily I have an old friend on Woodcutt Isle who should have the supplies we need!"
  • "You're more than capable of sailing solo, sprout, so take my boat. It's no Matilda, but it'll get you there."

Repair Crew House[]

Upon returning from speaking to Mortimer Woodchuck Rudolf Taleweaver says:

RudolfTaleweaverIcon
  • "That didn't take long, sprout! How was Morty?"
  • "Foxes again, eh? Well, you did the job and now we can prepare for our first new resident!"
  • "We'll need to recruit the famous Grout Brothers to get that Crew House rebuilt."
  • "I'll let you in on a secret - the Grouts love Pearls. Throw some their way and watch their workrate soar!"
  • "Rebuild the Crew House - and don't forget to use those Pearls to speed up construction."

Rudolf Taleweaver then sends the player on a quest to repair the Crew House.

Once the player repairs the Crew House, the player is rewarded 5 Coins and 5 XP.

Hire an Angler[]

After the Crew House is built Rudolf Taleweaver says:

RudolfTaleweaverIcon "Excellent! Now you've got a Crew House, it's high time you found someone to live there."

After giving the player the reward for rebuilding the Crew House Rudolf Taleweaver says:

RudolfTaleweaverIcon
  • "As you explore these vast waters you'll meet other souls who'll join your crew - for a price."
  • "What can crew members do? What can't they do! Fight, Fish, Dig, Forge and more besides. They're indispensible."
  • "The Tavern over on Bullhorn Farm is the ideal place to start looking."
  • "It's a popular watering hole for fishing folk, so you might be able to recruit yourself an Angler!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then sends the player on a quest to hire an angler.

After returning back to Accordia with Lorna Crabhoarder and approaching Rudolf Taleweaver he says:

RudolfTaleweaverIcon "This is a big day - your first crewmember! Now let's see if she'll help you to reel in more coin than she set you back."

Talk to Alistair McCubbin[]

Rudolf Taleweaver will then give the player the reward for hiring a crew member, and say:

RudolfTaleweaverIcon
  • "Word of Accordia's return is spreading! We've had our first visitor, a trader and philanthropist from Larona Village."
  • "He's offered to share his trading wisdom with you, free of charge, to help Accordia grow. How kind!"
  • "He says he's got tips for putting your new fishing companion to good use, so go have a natter with him.

The player is then supposed to talk to the man with the green exclamation point above his head located directly below Rudolf Taleweaver whose name is Alistair McCubbin.

Name Island[]

After completing quests for Alistair McCubbin the player is asked to speak to Rudolf Taleweaver and he says:

RudolfTaleweaverIcon
  • "Would you look at that? You've not been here ten minutes and Accordia already has its first business in four decades. Bravo!"
  • "To commemorate this new beginning, I think it only fair that you frace the island with a new name of your choosing."
  • "Head over to the sign by the docks and change it to whatever your heart desires - as long as it doesn't desire something rude."

The player is then sent on a quest to name Accordia a name of his/her choosing at the Island Sign. There is no rewards for this quest.

When Rudolf Taleweaver is approached after naming the island he says:

RudolfTaleweaverIcon
  • "<Insert island name>? Really? I... LOVE IT!"
  • "I think your efforts to restore Accordia deserve a treat, you <insert player name>..."
  • "Take this Adventure Hat - it's quite the collector's item! In fact, this is the very Adventure Hat that Seabeard wore in his youth."
  • "Now, open the Crew Screen from the main menu and try it on!"

Put on Adventure Hat[]

The player then receives a quest to put on the Adventure Hat. There are no rewards for this quest.

Speak to Emelia Quickblade[]

After putting the Adventure Hat on Rudolf Taleweaver says:

RudolfTaleweaverIcon
  • "Just look at you! Seabeard you be so proud... sniff"
  • "You've made a great start, no question, but we'll need a lot more help to take Accordia from ruins to resplendence."
  • "When I told you of Seabeard's mysterious fate, I neglected to mention an important detail..."
  • "The rest of his crew survived! Hmm? Oh yes. I probably should have told you that earlier."
  • "With no Seabeard and no Accordia, they went their separate ways. Who knows where they all ended up?"
  • "That's for you to find out. Take this Larona Shallows Map and sail due North. It's time to expand your horizons!"
  • "Search for Emelia Quickblade first. She was Seabeard's most trust Warrior and, I suspect, still handy with a blade all these years on."

The player is then sent on a quest to speak to Emelia Quickblade. There are no rewards for this quest.

Raise 200 Coins[]

Upon returning to Rudolf Taleweaver with the message from Emelia Quickblade about reopening the Warrior District he says the following when approached:

RudolfTaleweaverIcon
  • "So you've had the pleasure of meeting the famous Ms. Quickblade. She has a good heart, but she could scare the teeth of a shark!"
  • "If it's a Warrior District she wants, it's a Warrior District she'll get. I'm certainly not going to argue with her, are you?"
  • "Hmm, I fear that reaching the Warrior District may be a costly exercise..."
  • "Say, have you been keeping your Fishmonger stocked with fish? It's a great way to raise funds!"
  • "Catch more fish for your Fishmonger Stall and aim to raise 200 coins for the bridge repair fee."

The player then receives a quest to have 200 coins.

Upon returning to Rudolf Taleweaver with 200 coins he says:

  • "200 coins! That should do it. Now let's get that bridge fixed before you're tempted to spend it elsewhere."

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "With that money you raised, we can get those talented Grout Brothers in to fix the bridge!"
  • "They'll need plenty of Driftwood to work with, so get gathering! You'll find it scattered on the beaches of most islands."

The player then receives a quest to have repair the Warrior Bridge.

After the Warrior Bridge is constructed Rudolf Taleweaver says the following when approached:

  • "What a state...I didn't think the Warrior District could get any rougher. Best get started, then - follow me!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then leads the player into the Warrior District and stops next to some ruins.

When approached he says:

  • "Do you have any idea what this was? Well, of course you don't. Silly me. This is the site of the one and only SwapShop!"
  • "This was THE place for turning your unwanted decorations, furniture and clothes into valuable coin."
  • "Rebuild this, and any friends who visit the island will be able to buy items!"
  • "This place was the heart of the neighbourhood - we absolutely have to get it up and running again."
  • "But to do so I fear we may need to get the Grout Brothers something a bit sturdier."
  • "That Driftwood might not look like much, but in the right hands it's perfect Plank material!"
  • "Morty Woodchuck's father Leland will show you how to craft Planks, provided you show him sufficient coin first."
  • "Head back to Woodcutt Isle - you should find Leland at the back of Morty's shop."

The player then receives a quest to learn to make a Wood Plank.

Upon returning to Rudolf Taleweaver after learning how to make a Wood Plank he says:

  • "Now you know the secret to Plank crafting, you have no excuse to run out of them!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "Now you've got the skills, you should craft 3 Wood Planks..."
  • "When they're ready, tap on the SwapShop, and get repairing!"

The player then receives a quest to learn to repair the SwapShop.

Upon returning to Rudolf Taleweaver after the SwapShop is repaired he says:

  • "The SwapShop's back - hooray! Get selling your stuff - and make sure to visit your friends' SwapShops too!"
  • "Here take my old Piano - I don't need it anymore. If you don't want it, go ahead and SwapShop it!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "You've made a great start, but you'll need to restore more than buildings to lure people back."
  • "Accordia became so popular because it had an amazing Prestige rating. Right now, its Prestige couldn't be much lower."
  • "One way to improve Accordia's Presitge is to decorate it as harmoniously and beautifully as you can."
  • "The more charming Accordia is, the more visitors you'll attract."
  • "And more visitors means that you can sell your wares faster and in greater number."
  • "Fill the island with wonderful buildings, furniture and decorations. Make it beautiful again!"
  • "If you ever want to check the island's current Prestige, just tap the Accordia sign by the dock!"
  • "Mortimer Woodchuck sells some impressive hand-crafted decorations. Get spending!"
  • "Place your purchases around Accordia and try to get its Prestige up by another 30!"

The player then receives a quest to have 30 more Prestige.

Upon returning to Rudolf Taleweaver after the having 30 more Prestige he says:

  • "Very stylish! Keep this up and we'll be overrun with visitors in no time."
  • "I think the Warrior District is going to need to be cleared of all these rocks, roots, and trees though."
  • "You can win Dynamite, Root Remover and Tree Remover by getting first place in the Sailing Activities."
  • "To get you started, take this Tree Remover - it should give you space to build another house!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "I think it's time you started thinking about recruiting more crewmembers... Didn't you say something about a Warrior?"
  • Of course, there's still plenty that needs doing to get this place in order, so don't forget to keep improving Accorida too!"
  • "I'd suggest returning to Larona Village to complete Emelia's training and expand your crew!"

The player then receives a quest to speak to Emelia Quickblade.

After helping Emelia Quickblade with some quests the Rudolf Taleweaver will have a green exclamation point above his head.

When approached Rudolf Taleweaver he says the following:

  • "I had high hopes for you, <Insert player's name>, but it still feels like I may have underestimated you."
  • "Your mother rejected Seabeard's way of life... It appears that the thirst for adventure skips a generation!"
  • "I think it's time we paid tribute to the great man by rebuilding Seabeard Manor!"
  • "As soon as you've rebuilt the Manor, we will be able to accomodate more visitors on Accordia!"
  • "This is your most ambitious construction project yet. Let's start by crafting 5 Wood Planks."

The player then receives a quest to have five wood planks.

Upon returning to Rudolf Taleweaver with 5 Wood Planks he says:

  • "1...3...Yes, all present and correct. Now let's turn them into a material worthy of Seabeard Manor."

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "Those planks are perfect, but Seabeard Manor deserves better than plain wood."
  • "James Grindsweep will show you how to craft Purple Paint - for a fee, of course. Isn't it always the way?"
  • "Head to the windmill on Bullhorn Farm - he's always hanging around there."

The player then receives a quest to learn to make purple paint.

Upon returning to Rudolf Taleweaver after learning how to make purple paint he says:

  • "Now you can craft your own Purple Paint, you should never be in short supply!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "The first step to rebuilding Seabeard Manor can finally begin! We just need 1 Purple Paint to begin with."

The player then receives a quest to learn to have one purple paint.

Upon returning to Rudolf Taleweaver with one purple paint he says:

  • "James has taught you well! Now, I know you're itching to get started, but first there's a treasure to be found!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "Do you remember that cave I sent you to when you first arrived? Do you recall seeing a chest there? Locked, wasn't it?"
  • "Seeing as this is your first treasure hunt, let's make it easy for you - here's the key!"
  • "Now, head back that cave by the dock, open that chest and bring back whatever you find inside."

The player then receives a quest to learn to find lost Seabeard Insignia.

Upon returning to Rudolf Taleweaver with the Seabeard Insignia he says:

  • "Have you opened the Locked Chest in the cave yet? (Please tell me it's not empty...) - will you show me what you found?"
  • Two options appear with "Nope" and "Sure!"

If "Sure!" is selected then the player has to drag the Seabeard Insignia over to Rudolf Taleweaver.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "And there it is - the majestic insignia for Seabeard's Manor! What a relief; I was convinced that pesky Gnomes had nicked it."
  • "That's the final pieces of the Seabeard Manor puzzle. We can rebuild it.. We have the technology."

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "This is it - Seabeard Manor's triumphant return. Get building, <Insert player's name>!"

The player then receives a quest to learn to repair Seabeard Manor.

After rebuilding Seabeard Manor Rudolf Taleweaver says the following:

  • "It's just as I remember... I can almost picture Accordia back at its bustling best!"
  • "From this day forth, visitors will once again journey to Accordia..."
  • "Visitors are always in the market for a souvenir, so make sure you talk to them!"
  • "Here, take this Elegant Chair - it should get you started decorating the manor."

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "In recognition of the return of Seabeard Manor, the people of Larona Village have provided a little housewarming gift."
  • "There's something called a Reward Machine at the Larona Village Town Hall. Your present's waiting for you there, apparently."
  • "I don't really understand this newfangled technology, but it sounds simple enough."

The player then receives a quest to learn to collect the reward.

Upon returning after collecting the reward Rudolf Taleweaver says:

  • "How generous! It's not much, but every new home has to start somewhere. Bet you can't wait to start decorating!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "The return of Seabeard Manor marks the perfect opportunity to improve Accordia's Presetige."
  • "Pick up some new decorations from Woodchuck's and let your creativity run riot!"
  • "See if you can lift the Prestige of Accordia by another, let's say, 150!"

The player then receives a quest to raise Accordia's prestige by 150.

Upon returning after earning 150 more prestige Rudolf Taleweaver says:

  • "What exquisite taste! You clearly have a natural gift for decorating, sprout!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "Accordia truly is a sight for these tired eyes... Those aren't tears, sniff, it's just the salty breeze in my eyes."
  • "Anyways, I think it's time your trusty Angler cast her net a little wider."
  • "If you rebuilt the Fishing Academy, she could learn all sorts of new tricks to catch bigger and more valuable fishies!"

The player then receives a quest to repair the Fishing Academy.

Upon approaching Rudolf Taleweaver after the Fishing Academy is repaired he says:

  • "The Fishing Academy is ready to rod! Let's get you Angler learning!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "The Fishing Academy has a clever thingamajig called an Upgrade Cabinet..."
  • "Don't ask me how it works - magic, probably - but you should use it upgrade your Angler."

The player then receives a quest to have an Angler with a skill level of two.

Upon approaching Rudolf Taleweaver after Lorna Crabhoarder reaches a skill of angler level 2 he says:

  • "Marvellous. I expect to see your Fishmonger selling Archeon Fish soon!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "Let's put your Angler's newfound knowledge to the test, shall we?"
  • "Do you think you could bag me a pet Emerald Chub? They're quite rare, but I know you can do it!"

The player then receives a quest to give him an Emerald Chub.

Upon returning with the Emerald Chub Rudolf Taleweaver says:

  • "I don't ask for much, but I've dreamt of owning an Emerald Chub since I was a lad. Did you manage to find one?"
  • Two options appear with "Nope" and "Sure!"

If "Sure!" is selected then Rudolf Taleweaver says the following after the Emerald Chub is dragged over to him:

  • "My very own Emerald Chub! I think I'll call it Mr Spangles. Or Mrs Spangles. Actually, how do I tell?"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "I know you've got alarmingly deep pockets, but I wouldn't be surprised if you're still in need of some additional storage space."
  • "I bet the Larona Village Architect has something that will alleviate your storage woes."
  • "Buy the Blueprint to do the job, then bring it back here for the Grout Brothers to get stuck into. Don't forget materials!"

The player then receives a quest to have a Warehouse on the home island.

After building the Warehouse Rudolf Taleweaver says the following when approached:

  • "A Warehouse! It's a veritable blank canvas for hoarders!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "There's plenty of scope to upgrade and expand it too. No collectible left behind!"

If approached directly after this Rudolf Taleweaver says:

  • "How goes the adventuring, <Insert player's name>? Don't forget to keep stocking stalls and decorating Accordia!"

After the player meets Dr Cornelius the Rudolf Taleweaver will have a green exclamation point above his head.

Upon approaching him Rudolf Taleweaver says the following:

  • "So you've had the pleasure of meeting the brilliant Dr. Cornelius! Is he still obsessing over Archeon Temple?"
  • "Still? Hawhaw! He always was the stubborn sort!"
  • "I hope he doesn't get it open, if I'm honest - I've heard tell of all manner of terrors within!"
  • "That glint in your eye tells me that won't stop you helping him. I certainly won't stand in your way, sprout."
  • "If broadening your mind appeals, you should revive the old Library in the Scholar Quarter. Cornelius practically lived there!"
  • "The work required won't be cheap. I'm afraid - 4000 coins by my calculations! Best keep your stalls stocked if you need more."

The player then receives a quest to have 4,000 Coins.

When spoken to after having 4,000 Coins Rudolf Taleweaver says:

  • "You've accrued enough lucre to rebuild the bridge to the Scholar Quarter - let's get to it!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "It's time for the Grout Brothers to work their magic again!"
  • "Tap on the Gate of Knowledge to get the latest Accordia expansion project underway!"

The player then receives a quest to repair the Gate of Knowledge.

After repairing the Gate of Knowledge the Rudolf Taleweaver says the following when approached:

  • "The Scholar Quarter returns, and with it more literature than you or I could read in a lifetime! Once the library's rebuilt, of course."

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "I have fond memories of sailing to Archeon with Seabeard, although it had nothing to do with the Temple, you see."
  • "It was the fish! A unique species called the Archeonfish... One of the most delicious things I've ever tasted!"
  • "What a treat it would be if I could sample a Archeonfish once again. Please catch one for me!"

The player then receives a quest to give him an Archeonfish.

Upon approaching Rudolf Taleweaver with an Archeonfish he says:

  • "Did you manage to catch a Archeonfish from the shores of the Archeon Temple digsite? I'm salivating just thinking about it!
  • Two options appear with "Nope" and "Sure!"

If "Sure!" is selected then the player has to drag the Archeonfish over to Rudolf Taleweaver.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "Look at those colours! It's almost a pity to gobble it up. Ooh, I bet Gabriel Flambé has a recipe to really make those flavours shine!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "That picture doohickey of yours - can it take pictures of anything?"
  • "There's a society of ornithologists - that's birdspotters to you and me - who might benefit from your magic device."
  • "You might have come across them in Larona Village already... Does BEAKS ring a bell?"
  • "I believe your carmeradoodle is perfect for helping them catalogue every species. Much better than a drawing!"
  • "If you take a snap of a bird, take it along to the BEAKS Club Leader and I bet they'll welcome you in with open wings!"

The player then receives a quest to identify one bird.

Upon returning after identifying one bird Rudolf Taleweaver says:

  • "You're a BEAKS Hatchling! That's what it says on your membership card, anyway. Good luck with your collection!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then has nothing further to say at this time.

Upon approaching Rudolf Taleweaver after Dr Cornelius sends the player on a quest to talk to him about the Seabeard graffiti he says:

  • "<Insert player's name>! Welcome home!"
  • "You have something important to tell me? I have something important to tell you! Our trader stalls need more stock!"
  • "Let's start with the Woodwork Stall - give your trader something new to sell."

The player then receives a quest to supply the Woodwork Stall five times.

Upon approaching Rudolf Taleweaver after supplying the Woodwork Stall five times he says:

  • "Let this be a lesson to you to keep all of your stalls' stock replenished, otherwise you'll be in danger of running out of coin!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "As Accordia grows, so too does the potential to gain a higher Prestige!"
  • "Invest some of that money you're making in new decorations - aim to increase your Prestige by at least 250!"

The player then receives a quest to increase the home island's Prestige by 250.

Upon approaching Rudolf Taleweaver after increasing the home island's Prestige by 250 he says:

  • "This place is really coming together! Don't rely on me to remind you in the future - keep Accordia beautiful!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "Now, wasn't there something you wanted to tell me?"
  • "You found Seabeard's trademark tag in Archeon Temple? He never did have much respect for sacred ground..."
  • "That devious rascal bet Dr Cornelius he'd get in there before him. I wish I could have seen Dr C's face!"
  • "Strange that he never claimed his winnings, isn't it? I wonder what he found in there?"
  • "I'd go back to Dr Cornelius and encourage him to explore every last nook and cranny of that place. There must be a clue!"

The player then receives a quest to speak to Dr Cornelius.

Upon approaching Rudolf Taleweaver after Dr Cornelius asks the player to after Etta Cornelius is a level two Archaeologist he says the following:

  • "It appears that fate is guiding you into Doza waters. They're hard-working folk, but they're also hard work, if you catch my drift."
  • "But even they're no match for the storm that rages in that region. There's no way you'd survive that journey!"
  • "But all storms clear eventually. Stay patient, and keep decorating and stocking the stalls of Accordia while you wait!"
  • "This is but a small impediment on your adventure, <Insert player's name>. Check back soon to see if the storm has cleared!"

Rudolf Taleweaver has nothing else to say at this time.

Doza Seas Chapter[]

Upon accessing the Doza Seas chapter Rudolf Taleweaver will have a green exclamation point above his head and says the following when approached:

  • "As I suspected, these friendly waters cannot contain your adventurous spirit. It's time to expand your horizons and explore the Doza Seas!"
  • "We were once so friendly with their people, but alas, Colosso's attack on Accordia served to unravel our close ties."
  • "They built a mighty wall around their capital and retreated from us, plus there was the whole goat incident and..."
  • "...Well, lets just say that our relationship with the Doza has been somewhat fragile since Seabeard vanished."
  • "While we don't have his talent for diplomacy and raw charisma to rely on any more, we have the next best thing: YOU."
  • "You've done so much to repair the fortunes of Accordia - perhaps you could do the same to the fracture that separates the Yorubo and Doza?"
  • "Before you rush off, I'd recommend preparing a little peace offering..."
  • "I happen to remember that the Doza go crazy for Sunsoak Lagoon's famous Tropical Punch. Get crafting!"

The player then receives a quest to have one Tropical Punch.

Upon retuning with one Tropical Punch Rudolf Taleweaver says the following:

  • "Marvellous, that drop of sunshine should cheer up even the grumpiest Doza!"

Rudolf Taleweaver then gives the player the reward for the quest.

Rudolf Taleweaver then says the following:

  • "Now I feel better about giving you this map to the Doza Seas. As you'll see, they lie far to the North West."
  • "Pay a visit to the Town Hall Clerk. He is always sending us tourist information leaflets..."

"...so I have a feeling he'd be friendlier than most to visitors from overseas!"

The player then receives a quest to speak to Pieter Pencilpush.
